CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept that this often associate with large multi-national corporations. The Fenton Team believes it is equally important for small businesses to study the concepts and do everything they can to be outstanding local, and global, citizens. Chris Fenton studied the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility in his time at the University of Victoria' s Business School. While these studies provided excellent insights, it certainly was not a beginning for The Fenton Team who feel that the principals of social responsibility are in their DNA. Well before Chris took his leave from The Fenton Team, the team was certainly a leader in CSR in the Alberni Valley real estate industry. This fact is perhaps best illustrated by an short article that was published by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in 2006:

Chris Fenton and Esther Fenton know the value of shelter. Mr. Fenton and Mrs. Fenton at Coast Realty Group in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island are making a contribution to the UN Refugee Agency each time they help a client buy or sell a new home. Refugees are, by definition, people who have had to run from their home in search of safety for themselves and their families. The UN Refugee Agency is there, helping to provide shelter – both physical shelter from wind, rain, sand and snow, as well as protection from further abuse and violence. Generous donations from Coast Realty Group, combined with the support of donors from around the world, make this work possible. The UN Refugee Agency in Canada would like to acknowledge and celebrate the exemplary corporate citizenship of Mr. Fenton and Mrs. Fenton.

Well this initiative was something that The Fenton Team, were proud of, they did not stop at humanitarian issues. The Fenton Team were the first Realtors in the Alberni Valley to "go green" in 2006 when they bought Hybrid cars in which to conduct all their business, put in place practices to reduce their office waste and recycle whenever possible, and to purchase environmentally friendly products for their business.

Finally, The Fenton Team also recognizes the need to be good corporate citizens locally. In conjunction with Coast Realty Group the team has taken part in numerous different local charity events focusing on key issues and the local youth.
