About Port Alberni.

The pristine lakes and rivers, the rugged mountains, the serene forests and the peaceful waters of the inlet make the Alberni Valley one of the most beautiful places on earth to live! The town of Port Alberni, located in the heart of all this splendour, is widely known as the Hub of the Pacific Rim.

The Alberni Valley has so much to offer! Spend a day in your boat fishing the waters of the "Salmon Capital of the World". Or if salt water fishing isn't your thing then try one of the multitudes of lakes in the surrounding area.

You're not a fisherman? If a round of golf is more to your liking, then try one of our excellent golf courses. Or perhaps spend a day at the McLean Mill Historic Site, where you can take a leisurely ride aboard the steam engine Alberni Pacific Ltd. Baldwin 2-8-2 T (saddle tank) located at the restored E & N Railway Station, or sail down the Alberni inlet aboard the MV Lady Rose or MV Frances Barkley.

If you love the outdoors there is no end to the ways you can spend your time here. On the other hand, if you're the type who likes to stay inside there's still plenty to do. You could take advantage of the many courses offered at our new North Island College campus. Or take in a hockey game, or go ice skating or curling at our new multi-plex ice arena.

If you like shopping — and who doesn't? — Port Alberni has dozens of great restaurants and little shops to explore. Whatever it is you like to do the "Community with a Heart" will always be there for you!
