About Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek is the perfect community for the person with country in their soul. As well as outdoor sports, you can enjoy privacy, quiet, and an abundance of nature at your doorstep. The Stamp and Sproat Rivers join just downstream from the Sproat River Bridge on Highway 4 and become the Somass River. Murphy sportfishing writes – “In the early 1900’s early settlers wrote to home about the great silver fish in the Stamp River. These were and are today the legendary Winter Run Steelhead.” Like the trout that inhabit these rivers and the surrounding lakes, Steelhead Salmon fully recover after spawning and return to the rivers season after season to spawn in April every year.

The spawning of the Sockeye, Coho, Chinook, and Pink Salmon in the Fall fills the rivers with fish and you can watch as the eagles, bear, and river mammals hunt and dine on the abundance at Stamp River Provincial Park. Closer to town is the site of the first paper mill in Port Alberni, which gave this area its name. Paper Mill Dam is on the banks of the Somass River and an ever popular swimming and recreational spot for the Valley in Beaver Creek. Bears follow the salmon in the river and are often seen at the Dam filling up on the bounty. As the rains fill the creek-like ditches along Smith and Lamarque Roads, residents out for a walk can watch as the salmon make their way up into the spawning grounds around Mulcaster’s pond and Mclean Mill.

McLean Mill, located on 13 hectares of forest land, is a wonderful attraction in Beaver Creek and a great place to learn about and see the history of our two traditional industries of Forestry and Fishing while you stay at the fully serviced or rustic sites in their campground adjoining the Mill. Spend some time at the hatchery hosted by the Mill and run by the Alberni Valley Enhancement Association. While you make your stay at the Mill Campground, you are within a half-hour drive of a variety of sites of interest in the Alberni Valley. And there is so much more…

Minutes from Port Alberni and all the amenities, Beaver Creek offers everything you could want in country living just minutes away from shopping, schools, theaters, restaurants, marinas, golf courses, medical care, and much more… Think of the possibilities when you buy a property or house for sale in Beaver Creek!
